Geological Conservation Review sites

Definition: GCR sites are often Sites of Special Scientific Interest identified and documented by Scottish Natural Heritage. 43 GCR sites are listed for Shetland, an unusually high density which reflects the special character of the Shetland landscape. A number are also Sites of Special Scientific Interest and protected and managed by statute.
