Tors occur widely in NE Scotland, although only rarely do they reach the scale of the Cairngorm tors. Granite tors, more or less modified by ice, are found on the summits of Ben Rinnes, Bennachie, Clachnaben, Mount Keen and Lochnagar, amongst other hills. The Morven-Cabrach basic intrusion also supports many small tors in The Cabrach and above Glen Buchat. Tors are almost absent from the Buchan lowlands.
